عقدت مسابقات مهرجان قطر الدولي السابع للصقور والصيد 2016 من ١-٣٠ يناير ٢٠١٦ والذي يقام تحت رعاية سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني في صبخة مرمى بسيلين، وتنظمه لجنة خاصة بالمهرجان تحت مظلة جمعية القناص القطرية بالتعاون مع المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي “كتارا”.
وقد افتتح المهرجان بمسابقة هدد التحدي لفروخ الشواهين والحمام الزاجل، كانت هذه المسابقة على فترتين، وذلك نظرا إلى العدد الكبير الذي سجل لهذه المسابقة، حيث يعتبر أضعاف النسخ السابقة.
يشار إلى أن موقع المهرجان مجهز بكافة المرافق والجلسات وشاشات المتابعة فضلاً عن المنصة الرئيسية، بالإضافة إلى الضيافة اليومية للمشاركين والزوار، بما يعكس أثر الضيافة العربية الأصيلة التي تعوّد أهل قطر على تقديمها للضيوف.

On 7-8 December 2015, the International Development Cooperation Meeting on Gender and Media hosted by UNESCO was held in the Palais Des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. It was set to strive towards breaching the gender gap between men and women in the media.

Despite the improvements on the portrayal of women following the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and the Addis Ababa Action Plan on Transformative Financing for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, women are still not fairly represented by the media. They are still not fully able to self-express without the criticism. According to a report published in 2015 by The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) , gender inequality has increased from 17% to 24% in the news in a span of 10 years from 1995 to 2005. Also, the percentage of stories in newspapers; television and radio newscasts that are reported by women lies at 37% only.
Women with influence like Ms. Colleen Morna, CEO of the Gender Links, Chair of the GAMAG-ISC and Ms Amina Lzmrini El Ouahabi, President of the HACA in Morocco mentioned the patriarchal culture that creates this gender gap in Media. This culture is thought to be resistant to change. The Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Getachew Engida stated that both the patriarchal culture and changing the men’s mindset is what makes achieving gender equality harder. However, he also stated his view on media’s role by saying “Of course media can be key to achieving equality. The fair representation of both men and women in a society indicates gender equality.”

Further more on gender and media, L. Kretsos, Secretary General of Information and Communication in Greece said “There’s still a lot to be done to breach the gender gap in media.” Gender Equality would be more achievable if gender divides was to be reduced immensely as there would be more opportunities for women to self-express, have a voice and not be disregarded in the media. As Ms. Colleen briefly spoken, “Gender equality is good for freedom of expression, good for democracy and good for business.”
The high officials involved in the meeting all believe that women are still under-presented in the media and throughout taking initiatives like advancing on what has been said in the Beijing Declaration, Gender Equality could be reached sooner than 2030.
The GAMAG held its 1st ever general assembly throughout 9-10 December 2015, to act on the resolutions of the International Development Cooperative Meeting on Gender and Media. It was also held in the Palais Des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Global Alliance on Media and Gender (GAMAG) was formed in 2013, in Bangkok. The strategic objectives of Section J in the Beijing Declaration and Platform Action (BPFA) are still unachieved and one of them is “Promote a balanced and non-stereotyped portrayal of women in the media. Actions to be taken.” This urged GAMAG and its partners to campaign for Section J’s targets achievement by empowering, financing and supporting gender equality in and through the media.

This general assembly was also aiming to strive for gender equality in media systems, structures and content by toughening international, national and regional cooperations that would allow stakeholders to work together to make a global change. To push them forwards, Mr. Alton Grizzle; Programme Specialist in communication & information in UNESCO, has said “GAMAG is you, GAMAG is work.” Sarah Macharia, the GMMP Global Coordinator and Manager , believed that only by ending sexism in media by 2020, gender equality could be achieved before 2030. Sarah also mentioned “we have to revolutionise our strategies to see what works.” There were also sub-comitties in the general assembly such as the Youth group set by the ‘Youth Leadership Council’ (YLC) to work on activities that would operationalise GAMAG and apply what has been said in the meetings to their everyday lives.

The meeting’s high officials like Aimée Vega Montiel, the president of the IAMCR, told the audience the importance of gender equality in media organisations by stating “The higher the position, the fewer the woman in media.” A Gothenburg’s university researcher, Maria Edström, added on the significance of having a fair representation of men and women by mentioning “We cannot have freedom of expression and freedom of information without gender equality.” Like a wake up call to the audience, Dominic Beaubrun, board director of the CBU, emphasised on the injustice of media towards women by revealing that “women are continuously portrayed in a negative way & degraded by the media.”
General Assembly ended with a note assuring that there will be a follow-up and will build on the progress of the strategic objectives of Section J of the BFPA and that GAMAG will monitor the progress. The high officials also urged the audience many of which are part of media organisations to start taking action, speak of injustice and stand up for gender equality.
يشارك مركز الدوحة لحرية الإعلام في فعاليات “المعرض الإعلامي” الذي افتتح مساء أمس بفندق شيراتون الدوحة بالتزامن مع الدورة الثالثة والعشرين لمؤتمر وزراء إعلام دول التعاون الخليجي.
ترأس الإفتتاح سعادة الشيخ عبدالرحمن بن حمد ال ثانى الرئيس التنفيذى للمؤسسة القطرية للإعلام ، وذلك بحضور سعادة الشيخ عبدالعزيز بن ثانى ال ثانى مدير تلفزيون قطر، والسيد علي ناصر الكبيسى مدير الإذاعة والسيد عبدالرحمن ناصر العبيدان مدير مركز الدوحة لحرية الإعلام بالإنابة ومجموعة من الإعلاميين ومسؤولي المؤسسات الإعلامية بقطر.
وقد نالت فعاليات المعرض إشادة كبيرة واستحسانا من طرف الزوار نظرا لأهميته في إثراء الحياة الإعلامية في قطر بكل ما هو جديد وحديث، فضلا عن كونه فرصة هامة للإلتقاء بالإعلاميين والصحفيين من داخل قطر وخارجها.
وتضمن جناح مركز الدوحة لحرية الإعلام عرض أهم إصداراته وأحدثها من بينها “دراسة عن قوانين الإعلام فى دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي” ، و”التقرير السنوى الثالث” الذي يسلط الضوء على القضايا الملحة التي تواجه الصحفيين خاصة ظاهرة الإفلات من العقاب.
كما شمل الجناح عددا من اللوحات الكاريكاتيرية تتناول حرية الإعلام و حائط للتعبير بعنوان “ماذا تعني حرية الإعلام ؟” وهو عبارة عن جدارية يدون عليها الزوار آراءهم .
وشاركت إلى جانب مركز الدوحة لحرية الإعلام مجموعة من المؤسسات الإعلامية القطرية من بينها المؤسسة القطرية للإعلام، إذاعة وتلفزيون قطر، صوت الخليج، جريدة الشرق، جريدة العرب، جريدة الراية، جريدة الوطن، قناة الكأس، قناة الريان، قنوات بن سبورت و وكالة الانباء القطرية.

انطلقت يوم الأحد الموافق 5 أبريل 2015 فعاليات المسابقة الإقليمية الثانية للمحكمة الصورية باللغة العربية بجامعة قطر، تحت عنوان “القانون والإعلام” بالتعاون مع مركز الدوحة لحرية الإعلام خلال الفترة من 5-8 أبريل الجاري.
ويشارك في هذه المسابقة 8 جامعات من الوطن العربي، و هي جامعة قطر، الجامعة الأردنية، جامعة الكويت الدولية، جامعة السلطان قابوس من سلطنة عمان، جامعة بئر زيت من فلسطين، جامعة بغداد من العراق، جامعة تونس، جامعة البيروت العربية من لبنان
ويأتي تنظيم هذه المسابقة حسب البيان الصحفي الصادر عن كلية القانون ” انطلاقا من إيمان كلية القانون بجامعة قطر بأهمية صقل مهارات الطلبة العملية وضمانا لتحقيق المخرجات التعليمية التي تسهم في بناء جيلٍ قانونيٍ يتقن مهارات التفكير الناقد والبحث القانوني ومهارات التواصل، ومهارات الترافع.”
والجدير بالذكر أن مسابقة المحكمة الصورية هي مسابقة أكاديمية تضم الفرق المشاركة فيها مجموعة طلاب من مختلف كليات القانون في الوطن العربي، حيث يتبارون كمحامين فعليين ويقدمون مرافعات مكتوبة وشفهية، ويتناولون فيها قضايا تمت مناقشتها سابقاً، علما أنه يتم اختيار أحد مواضيع القانون في كل عام.
